Switch to Ulster Bank - leaving us

Switching your current account to Ulster Bank could be a smart move.

Leaving Ulster Bank

We're confident you won't want to leave Ulster Bank. However, if you do, we'll do all we can to make the switch quick and easy.

What we'll do if you give us your permission

  1. We'll give your new bank a list of your existing direct debits and standing orders by the end of the second working day after you ask us to.
  2. We'll cancel your direct debits and standing orders by the end of the second working day after you ask us to.
  3. We'll transfer any money in your account to you or to your new bank account by the end of the third working day after you ask us to (or the fourth day if you also close your account).
  4. We'll close your Ulster Bank account by the end of the third working day after you ask us to, unless you have an overdraft which is backed by a guarantee or security (secured overdraft).
  5. We'll arrange to close your account (once you've paid back any borrowed money, plus any interest or fees) by the end of the fourth working day after you ask us to, unless you have an overdraft which is backed by a guarantee or security (secured overdraft).

We always aim to meet these timescales, but in very rare circumstances we may not be able to.

If we fail to meet these timescales and this costs you money, we will pay you back, whether we're your old bank or your new one.
