Switch to Ulster Bank - overview
Switching your current account to Ulster Bank could be a smart move.
Switching is hassle-free
Our special switching team is here to make everything easy for you. Their service is absolutely free! We look after:
- giving you your new cards and chequebook;
- helping to transfer your salary into your new account;
- setting up your standing orders;
- asking for your direct debits to be set up;
- transferring any balance from your old account; and
- arranging to close your old account if you ask us to.
Providing the same facilities
When you switch to Ulster Bank we can look to match the debit card and overdraft facility you had with your old bank. However, we will expect you to pay your main income into your Ulster Bank account. If you would like us to match your current facilities, please arrange a meeting with one of our customer advisers at one of our branches.
Asking for a larger overdraft facility at your local branch will mean we carry out a further credit search and this will usually be recorded with credit reference agencies. As a result, it may affect your ability to get credit elsewhere in the future.
Your interest and fee-free period
We will give you an interest- and fee-free period for at least three months depending on your circumstances.
If you do not have an overdraft or have chosen not to take one, we will, within a reasonable time, give you back any charges or interest that you have had to pay on your new account because of a failure during the switching process.
Your old bank will, within a reasonable time, give you back any charges or interest (or both) that you had to pay to the old bank because of a failure during the switching process.
