What is a card reader / why do I need one?
The Anytime Banking Card Reader is a device which uses your Debit card and your PIN(Personal Identification Number) to add an extra layer of security when doing certain transactions online.
It works by relying not just on something you know, but something you actually possess - your debit card.
It generates a unique code every time it's used, which you enter online using your computer keyboard.
This makes it very difficult for a criminal to steal money from your account.
When will I need to use a card reader?
A card reader adds an extra level of security for certain transactions online such as:
- Adding a new payee for the first time
- Changing details such as your PIN / Password
- Amending an existing payee
You wont need to use your card reader to make repeat payments to a payee you already have set up.
What if I don't have a card reader yet?
You will never need the Card-Reader to log in to Anytime Internet Banking. You'll simply use your existing details.
The same goes for checking your balance, viewing statements and making payments to a person or organisation you have previously made a payment to using online banking.
Where can I get a card reader?
You can order your Free card reader by logging into Anytime Internet Banking and clicking on Account Admin, and click the manage Card reader box to order - it will be posted out and should arrive within 5-10 working days. You should then follow the simple instructions to enable your reader.
