Do's
- Spend according to need, not desire
- Pay all bills immediately
- Tap all sources of student finance
- Limit loans - remember they all have to be paid back.
- Budget - it's not boring, it really is good sense
- Keep a constant eye on your bank balance
- Fill in the big hole in your finances with a job, not more debt
- Line up a holiday job with good pay
- Tell your bank when you need to go into the red, or over your limit - before it happens
- Draw out only the money you need for the week
- Take with you only the money you intend to spend
Dont's
- Borrow money from friends
- Use credit cards as another source of income
- Ignore debt, as it will only get worse
- Ignore letters from your bank or creditors - they will try and help you
- Suffer in silence - university/college help is available and will be sympathetic
