Online and telephone applications

For online and telephone applications for new customers we require proof of your identity and address.

If you are applying for a credit card, or current account with an overdraft facility or service card we may also need other supporting documents in order to open your account.

The documentation we require will be outlined in your application pack. You should send back your documents, along with the signed application form, in the pre-paid envelope provided.

Please note that your application is valid for 28 days from the date you apply.

Confirmation of your identity and address

To open a new account, we require original documents as proof of your identity and your address unless otherwise stated. We need to see two identification documents and one document to confirm your address.

Please note that you cannot use the same item to confirm both your name and address.

Identification
Photocopy of full Passport
Must be a current, valid passport
Photocopy of full current Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland/UK driving license
Must be a current, valid driving licence
Photocopy of new style Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland/UK provisional driving license
Must be a current, valid driving licence
Original Bank, Building Society or Credit Card Summary Statement
Less than 6 months old. Internet statements are not acceptable
If you do not have a passport or driving license we can accept a Gardai ML10 form.
In these circumstances no additional information is needed for Identification verification.
Additional identification documentation for students
Student identity card
Issued by a recognised university/college, bearing a sealed photograph
Address confirmation
Original Bank, Building Society or Credit Card Summary Statement
Less than 6 months old. Cannot be used if previously used to verify identification. Internet statements are not acceptable
Mortgage Summary Statement
Less than 12 months old
Original Household Utility Bill
Less than 6 months old - mobile phone bills are NOT acceptable
Notification of determination of tax credits
Must be valid for the current/ next tax year
Current balancing statement from the Revenue Commissioners
Must have been issued within the last 6 months
Current Local Authority/ County Council Services Bill
Must show address and have been issued within the last 12 months
Additional address confirmation documentation for students
University/College letter of acceptance/enrolment offer/request for payment (must have ref number)
Must confirm your acceptance onto the course.
Central Admissions Office letter of offer/confirmation of place
Must show CAO application number and address. Internet download of letter is not acceptable. Must have been issued within last 6 months.

Credit cards and current accounts with a debit card or overdraft facility

We may need to see copies of your bank/credit card statements and other relevant documentation before we can complete your application.

We will use this documentation to confirm information such as your salary and your mortgage or rent repayments.

It is important that the information you enter when completing the online application reflects what appears in your statements, so you may wish to have these to hand.

Any differences may result in you having to resubmit your application.
